KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Monday called reduction of violence a positive step toward the start of intra-Afghan negotiations.
Addressing a cabinet meeting at his office today, Abdullah said “Reduction of casualties and people’s plight before negotiations is a welcome step; but it doesn’t mean we do not have conditions for intra-Afghan talks.”
He voiced aversion to setting preconditions for the start of negotiations. “We would follow demands of the people during the dialogue, the CEO promised.
Abdullah said preconditions for the start of talks were reflective of a a no-committal stance on the peace process.
Referring to the electoral process, Abdullah hoped the poll commissions would follow their procedures with complete transparency.
The CEO added the national unity government would continue to work until final results from the presidential election were announced.
