KABUL, Refugee and Repatriation Minister Syed Hussain Alami Balkhi said on Tuesday.
The minister told a meeting about winter assistance that the new displacement was caused by conflict, natural disasters and drought.
Balkhi said around two million people were currently displaced, in which 12,000 lived in Kabul.
He said these displaced persons lived in 24 camps in Diwan-i-Begi, Qambar Square, Parwan-i-Do, Bagrami, Dehmazang and Taimani areas of Kabul.
Referring to winter assistance, he said the Ministry of Finance had provided 243 million to the Ministry of Refugee for displaced persons.
According to the report from the Ministry of Refugees, around 95,000 families nation-wide are in dire need of winter assistance and around 73,000 families have been provided the assistance.
Over 60,000 families received the assistance from foreign organizations while 21,000 families are still deprived of the aid due to lack of funds, the report maintained.
