JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA) office in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday said problems continued to plague telecom services in Hesarak and Sherzad districts of the province, urging improved security to address them.
ATRA officials expressed these views at a ceremony in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, where Etisalat Telecom launched its 4G service in the province.
Kefayatullah Nabikhel, Etisalat marketing director, told the ceremony that the 4G service was launched on experiment level in some parts of Jalalabad city and it would be extended to other parts later.
He said Etisalat Telecom Company was trying to reduce internet prices and improve its quality.
Eng. Aziz Habibi, ATRA head for Nangarhar, said that telecom services were currently active in most districts of Nangarhar, but the services faced some problems in Hesarak and Sherzad districts.
“But the problem in Sherzad district has been resolved to some extent and security forces have promised to ensure security of telecom services in Hesarak too.”
Habibi said the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MCIT) and ATRA were trying to reduce internet prices and improve quality of the service.
Complaints about problems in telecom services, particularly internet, have recently increased in the country.
