Commanders among 22 Taliban killed in Nangarhar

<p>JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 22 <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> insurgents have been killed, including a shadow district chief and three notorious commanders, during an air-and-ground operation in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Attullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the security forces conducted operations against the militants in Haska Mena, Sherzad, Achin and Surkh Rod districts over the past 24 hours.</p>

<p>He said 22 insurgents were killed, including the Taliban shadow chief for Haska Mena district and three commanders, during the offensive.</p>

<p>The shadow district chief named Ziarat Gul was killed along with four associates during an airstrike in the Kach village of the district, according to Khogyani.</p>

<p>He said <a href="/en/maulvi" class="glossify-link">Maulvi</a> Basir and Delawar were killed along with 12 associates during raids in Achin and Surkh Rod districts.</p>

<p>Six other militants, including a rebel commander, were killed in Sherzad, he said. Civilians suffered no casualties and weapons of rebels were destroyed, the official concluded.</p>
