In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Trump commended the courage of the US forces. He said the service-members’ progress in the war-torn country.
The Task & Purpose quoted him as saying: "In Afghanistan, the determination and valor of our warfighters has allowed us to make tremendous progress, and peace talks are underway.
"I am not looking to kill hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan, many of them totally innocent. It is also not our function to serve other nations as law-enforcement agencies." He said.
While hailing the US soldiers as the best in the world, Trump explained they either wanted to fight to win or not fight at all.
His administration was working to end America's longest war and bring troops back home, the president remarked.
He went on to tout America’s purchase of what he called the finest planes, missiles, rockets, ships and other military equipment.
About 13,000 American troops are currently deployed to Afghanistan. Trump renewed his pledge to pull out troops from that country.
