PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Afghan army troops seized 1,200 kilograms of drugs during an operation in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.
Ahmad Shakeel Tasal, spokesman for Afghan National Army’s 203rd Thunder Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the soldiers confiscated hashish in Bedak area of Pul-i-Alam City, the provincial capital, on Wednesday.
He added the drugs were placed in a pick-up vehicle and had been brought from from eastern Nangarhar province.
According to the official, one individual was killed in clash with security forces in connection with the drugs and a second was captured alive.
Hasibullah Stanikzai, Provincial Council chief, told Pajhwok that security forces had stepped up efforts to prevent drug smuggling.
