KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): At least 18 Taliban insurgents have been killed as a result of clash and airstrike in Shorawak district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Jamal Abdul Naser Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants wanted to attack security check-posts but they came under security forces ambush in the district on Wednesday night.
He said at least 11 militants were killed in the clash.
According to Barakzai, that foreign forces conducted airstrike in the same area and the air raid resulted in killing of seven militants and injuring six others.
He said weapons and two vehicles belonging rebels were also damaged in the airstrike. The Taliban have not yet comment in this regard.
