KABUL Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Monday confirmed civilian casualties in airstrikes in Badghis and Farah provinces, asking security and judiciary organs for a comprehensive investigation into the attacks and compensation to the victims’ families.

A statement from AIHRC received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that their findings showed six civilians were killed and three others injured in an airstrike in Qorotoi area of Bala Murghab district of Badghis province on February 7.

The source said five businessmen were killed when their car heading from the capital of Farah province to Abu Nasr Farahi port was targeted by a foreign forces airstrike on February 8.

“AIHRC has always emphasized on observing international rules for human rights and basic rights of Afghan people and has shared its concerns about increased civilian losses and its negative consequences for the political system and its international supporters”, the rights body said.

The commission called such attacks as war crimes and strongly condemned them. It reiterated its concerns on civilian deaths and asked all warring sides for the protection of lives, property, rights and interests of the noncombatants during war.

AIHRC shared its sympathy with families of the victims and asked security and judiciary organs for a comprehensive investigation into the attacks that caused civilian casualties and compensation for the affected people.
