Mohammad Agha district chief gets 10 years in jail

KABUL (Pajhwok): The district administrative chief of Mohammad Agha district in central Logar province has been sentenced to 10 years and six months in jail by the appellant court for seeking 18 million afghanis bribe.

The appellant hearing of Noor Mohammad Obaidi was held on Monday in the Anti-Corruption Justice Centre here.

Obaidi was punished for demanding 18 million afghanis in bribe from Dawlat Khan, the son of Hussain Khan, to hand over his hereditary property of 900 acres.

The judicial delegation of the Anti-Corruption Justice Centre, after reviewing the case of accused Noor Mohammad Obaidi, convicted him to 10 years and six months in jail and fined 18 million afghanis. He was also dismissed from his job.

Obiadi, who was appointed as chief of the Mohammad Agha district, had been handed down a similar punishment by the primary court one month ago.
