SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum on Thursday warned of creating a parallel government if the presidential election result was announced in favor of the State Builder team based on fraudulent votes.
Addressing a public gathering that marked the 579th birth anniversary of Mughal emperor Zaheeruddin Mohammad Babar here, Dostum made it clear that a government based on fake votes would never be acceptable to him.
“Every day a delegation comes to Shiberghan for discussion on election issues, but my final stance is the one that I have announced,” he said.
Referring to insecurity in the north, the Junbish party leader said: “They made us wait for the outcome of the ongoing talks and we have been silent here. We created groups for security of the north in different places in order to stop further influence of the enemy,” he said.
He cautioned the situation in the north might further deteriorate in future, but added they were prepared to stop the enemy. He claimed some Taliban did not dare to fight with him.
Dostum also talked about ‘mysterious circles’ who had reached Shiberghan for his assassination.
He alleged Ahmad Eschi, a former governor, in coordination with some Taliban leaders had been plotting against him and striving to portray a negative image of Shiberghan through media and mislead public.
The vice president said: “I support freedom of expression but am strongly against conspiracies and subversive activities in Jawzjan. I can stop the transmission of Eschi’s personal television legally.”
