PESHWAR (Pajhwok): Eight people, including two policemen, have been killed an explosion in the capital of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, officials say.
The blast occurred near the Quetta Press Club late on Monday, wounding 21 others, said Deputy Inspector General Abdul Razzaq Cheema, who called the bombing an apparent suicide attack.
The blast came as a protest was staged near the press club. Several vehicles parked outside the club and nearby buildings were damaged, the police officer added.
The injured were evacuated to hospital for medical treatment. An emergency was declared at Civil Hospital, where senior doctors were called.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, meanwhile, voiced deep shock at the loss of precious lives in the attack. Khan directed the authorities concerned to provide the best medical treatment to the injured.
