KABUL) official on Tuesday said the final results of presidential election would probably be announced later today or tomorrow, Wednesday.
The IEC official, who wished anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News, that the final result of presidential election might be declared within hours today.
The source was confident that the results would be definitely announced tomorrow if today the issue faced with any technical problems.
A day earlier, Mohammad Hanif Danishyar, an IEC commissioner, had said that the final result of the presidential election would be announced within three or four days.
Faridon Khwazon, spokesman for the Stability and Partnership election team, told Pajhwok that their team had withdrawn from the presidential race as the process had lost all its legitimacy. He said the final result would not be acceptable for the people.
He said that their team would announce its position about any result announced by the IEC and alternative options were on the table and would be soon shared with the people.
Earlier, the IEC said both election bodies had agreed on a mechanism for the special audit of 10 percent from total 137,630 votes and 15 percent from total 102,012 votes.
IEC began the special audit and recount process of votes three days back in Badakhshan, Takhar, Faryab, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar and Kabul provinces and completed the process on Monday.
The presidential election was held on September 28. Final result of the election is yet to be announced. Based on initial results, Ashraf Ghani secured more than 50 percent of the votes while Dr. Abdullah Abdullah secured over 39 percent of total votes.
