CHARIKAR insurgents in central Kapisa province.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the predawn attack took place in the Nizamkhel area of Nijrab district.
He said the clash lasted three hours and resulted in the killing of nine public uprising members.
Meanwhile, police spokesman Shaiq Shurish confirmed the clash but said nothing about casualties.
Another source, who also declined to be named, said the militants initially detonated a landmine planted inside the security check-post and then shot dead those injured in the blast.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said 11 policemen were killed, including their commander named Qadir.
