MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A factory in northern Balkh province has started producing new model vehicles and rickshaws, but the factory officials say they have problems in the registration area.
The officials of the factory say they invested four years ago and they are capable of manufacturing fuel based and battery based vehicles and rickshaws.
Ahmad Zia Ahmadyar, in charge of Amin Noor Factory in Balkh, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had started production of transport vehicles four years ago.
He said their factory had full capacity of manufacturing both fuel based and electricity vehicles. He said most parts of vehicles and batteries they used were produced in the factory.
Ahmadyar said they opened the factory in 75 acres of land and invested $15 to $20 million in the business.
He said they prepared raw materials inside the country and imported some parts from India and China.
“We are ready to offer our vehicles and rickshaws to the market but we still face problems in registering, this problem would solve in three months and we will be able to present our products to the market,” he said.
Eng. Mohammad Ibrahim Haroon, in charge of the vehicles production in the factory said that they had manufactured 75 vehicles and 280 rickshaws so far.
He said that 150 people worked in Amin Noor Factory. He added that the factory has the capacity to produce up to 6,000 vehicles a year.
Haroon said their products would be increased manifolds if their vehicles were registered by the government.
He said their electric cars could speed up to 70 kilometers per hour and cou;d move up to 100km once they were fully charged.
He said their fuel based vehicles were also very economic as they could consume 2.5 liters of fuel in 100 kilometers drive.
The vehicles produced in the factory can work fine for first 10 years, he said.
He said that their vehicles cost from $1,200 to $3,000.
Najibullah Momand, technical director of the company, said that all major parts of vehicles were produced in their own factory.
He said they only imported engines from foreign countries but now they were trying to build own engines.
Thirty people work in the car production area alone and two cars can be manufactured in a week, he said.
On the other hand, Emal Hamidi, Balkh traffic department head, told Pajhwok that the problem about the registration of these vehicles should be solved with the traffic department in Kabul and the presidential palace.
