KABUL (Pajhwok): The Presidential Palace on Thursday rejected holding talks with the Stability and Partnership team on formation of future government, but said President Ghani was committed to consulting all parties on future Cabinet.
Presidential spokesperson Sediq Sediqi on his social media handler wrote that no talks had taken place with the Stability and Partnership team’s members.
“The president is committed to consulting different stakeholders regarding the formation of Cabinet in future.”
Earlier, first vice president nominee of the Stability and Partnership team claimed that after mediation by US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, the two teams started discussion on the peace agreement between the Taliban and the US.
“The postponement of presidential inauguration and halt to the appointment of governors was agreed. Peace has been and is one of the priorities of the Stability and Partnership team, but we are committed to defending the clean vote of the nation,” he had said.
The presidential inauguration was expected to take place today, but the event was postponed.
