Civilians among 14 killed, 33 injured in Taliban attacks

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): At least seven civilians have been killed and 17 others wounded in a Taliban attack in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.

Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants staged coordinated attack in the Khwaja Noor village of Kashk-i-Rubat district on Friday evening.

He said seven civilians were killed and 17 others, including women and children, wounded in the assault.

Meanwhile, police spokesman, Abdul Ahad Walizad said the insurgents stormed security check-posts in Herat City on Friday night.

He added seven public uprising members were killed and 16 others wounded. Children and women were among the injured.

The Taliban have so far said nothing about the incidents, which came hours after a deadly attack on a memorial for Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari.
