KABUL (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen killed a provincial council member for central Logar province along with his three security guards in Kabul on Monday.
The incident took place in Qala-i-Barqi locality in the limits of eighth police district when the unknown armed men opened fire at the vehicle of Nasir Ghairat, said another member of the Logar PC, Sayed Qaribullah Sadat.
He said Nasir Ghairat was wounded and his three guards were killed. “Ghairat succumbed to his wounds in Kabul Emergency Hospital,” he informed.
Police spokesman Firdous Faramarz told Pajhwok that he had no information about the incident so far.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
President Ashraf Ghani in a statement condemned the killing of NasirGhairat in strongest terms.
“The enemies of Afghanistan with such barbaric attacks cannot undermine the existing opportunities for a stable Afghanistan,” the statement added.
Praised his services for the country, Ghani termed Ghairat a patriot and said the public representative was committed to national interests.
The president ordered the relevant organs to identify and severely punish the attackers.
