Samiullah Walizada, the highway maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the key route was closed for cargo trucks as a result of heavy snowfall and strong winds late on Monday night.
The highway was shut this morning at 8am for cargo trucks.
In the winter, traveling the busy highway is dangerous for passengers due to heavy snow and cold weather conditions.
