Zamir Omarkhel, the highway maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the key route was closed for all kinds of traffic due to snowfall on Tuesday night.
He said the snowfall that started last night was expected to last 24 hours. Three avalanches have hit the highway so far, causing no losses.
