AIBAK (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have recovered and seized five tons of explosives and detained one individual in connection with it in northern Samangan province, an official said on Saturday.
Mohammad Hashim Modaqiq, administrative chief for Hazrat Sultan district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Directorate of Security personnel seized five tons of explosives, three magnetic bombs rigged in a Mazda type vehicle in the district.
He said the explosives were aimed to be transferred to Feroz Nakhchir district which was under Taliban control.
He added on individual was detained in connection with explosives and currently being interrogated.
An NDS source in the province, speaking in the condition of anonymity, said: “The explosives are very dangerous and many terrorist attacks have been prevented with its seizure.”
Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
