KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): At least five security personnel and seven insurgents have been killed as a result of a clash in the Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz province.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed security check-posts in the Nawabad area of the district on Wednesday night.
He said five security personnel were killed and six others captured alive by the rebels. The insurgents also took away weapons and ammunitions.
Yousaf Ayubi, the provincial council chief, confirmed militant attacks on security check-posts. He said a number of security forces were captured and killed.
Noorudding, a resident of the area, said the attack that lasted several hours. He said he came to know in the morning that several security forces had been killed.
Police spokesman Hijratullah Akbari said four security forces and seven Taliban were killed in the overnight clash.
However, he denied the capture of security forces by Taliban and said five militants were wounded.
