Yamgan district falls to Taliban after fierce fighting

KABUL after hours of fierce fighting, a public representative said on Saturday.

The insurgents overran Yamgan, the first district to fall to the Taliban after they inked a long-waited peace pact with the US in Doha last month.

A provincial council member, who did not want to be named, confirmed the collapse of the Yamgan district, which the Taliban controlled for four years until September.
