QALAT (Pajhwok): At least six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier have been killed as a result of a Taliban attack in southern Zabul province, an official said on Monday.
Fawad Aman, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants staged the attack in Arghandab district.
Gul Islam Siyal, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the fatalities among the ANA personnel. A number of the attackers also suffered casualties in retaliatory gunfire from the soldiers, he said.
According to another source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, the attack was carried out by a Taliban infiltrator in ANA ranks.
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the firefight in Arghandab.
