KABUL attack in northwestern of Faryab province, an official said on Monday.
Governor Naqibullah Fayeq told Pajhwok Afghan News armed insurgents shot dead QRF Commander Ghulam Hazrat and three of his companions and wounded three others in Almar district late on Sunday night.
He said several security personnel had been killed and wounded recently in Taliban attacks. A number of fighters have also suffer casualties in some districts of the province.
While the government was struggling to combat the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, the Taliban continued to conduct attacks across the province, the governor alleged.
The group's claim of cooperation with the government in the war on the deadly virus was false as it remained unconcerned by the threat to public health, he added.
In the given situation, where civilians continued to suffer, a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds was necessary. But the Taliban were more likely to fight on, he concluded.
