KABUL militants have been killed and 22 others wounded in clashes with the security forces in Badghis and Balkh provinces, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.
The insurgents stormed security check-posts in the Qadis district and Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital of Badghis, late on Sunday night, the ministry said.
In a statement, MoD said seven Taliban rebels were killed and 11 others wounded in the overnight firefight.
Five more militants were killed and six wounded when a bomb in their possession went off prematurely in the same area, the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Shaheen Military Corps said in a statement nine fighters were killed and five wounded in a firefight with the security forces in the Chahar Bolak district of Balkh province late on Sunday night.
