KABUL and the United Arabic Emirates (UAE) discussed the war on coronavirus on Tuesday.

Hanif Atmar held a telephone conversation with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to a statement from the ministry, the UAE minister congratulated Atmar on assuming office recently.

The two sides shared their experiences in combating coronavirus and conferred on the Afghanistan peace process.

They also spoke about forging regional consensus and ways of mustering support for a humanitarian ceasefire in Afghanistan, the statement added.

Atmar, while thanking Al-Nahyan and the United Arab Emirates, called for continued assistance. He expressed his desire to meet the UAE leader.

Atmar praised UAE’s assistance to Afghanistan in addressing people’s problems, as well as in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He acknowledged UAE’s support for the proposed humanitarian ceasefire, unconditional intra-Afghan negotiations and establishment of regional consensus on the peace process.
