KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Thirty-three Taliban militants and four policemen have been killed during separate clashes in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Jamal Nasir Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News 12 militants were killed and seven others injured during a clash with police in Zherai distric’s Mir Hazar locality.
He said the clash occurred on Tuesday night after the rebels attacked police check post and continued for few hours. One policeman was killed and three others injured in the firefight, he added.
Separately, militants attacked security forces check-posts in Kamarband locality of Mianshin district and in the ensuing clash, three attackers were killed and four others injured. The security forces suffered no harm, he said.
In another clash in Spin Boldak’s Shargo locality, 16 militants were killed and nine others injured. Three policemen were also killed and four others injured, said Barakzai.
In Khakrez district, two insurgents were killed and three others injured in a blast caused by their own landmine.
The Taliban have not spoken about these incidents.
