KABUL (Pajhwok): The government and the private sector will jointly make a plan to aid needy people amid coronavirus crisis in the country, a statement said on Monday.
Many people are currently jobless due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic in Afghanistan.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ashraf Ghani discussed this issue with directors of different chambers of commerce, industry and national traders via a video conference on Sunday evening.
Haji Mayel Agha Khairkhwa, head of global chamber of commerce, Afghan-German chamber of commerce in charge Jalaluddin Sayeedi, Sayed Zaman Hashimi, Khan Steel director Khan Mohammad Wardak and national trader Sher Baz Kameen attended the video conference.
The attendees briefed the president about assistance with vulnerable and needy people and promised to aid needy people in future as well shoulder-to-shoulder with the government.
Ghani appreciated role of investors and national traders in assisting people and said investors union and government had the responsibility to aid people in this difficult situation.
President Ghani asked the chamber of commerce and industries officials to specify future work in written draft they wanted to do along with the government.
Ghani said the draft should be shared with the Presidential Palace for decision.
