KABUL Qatar Office spokesperson on Friday announced releasing 48 government prisoners in western Herat province.
Suhail Shaheen in a tweet said: “As part of the series of prisoners’ release, the Prisoners’ Commission of IEA released 48 soldiers of the Kabul Adm. in Herat province today and yesterday. They were given clothes and transportation fare. This series will continue in the time to come as well, inshaAllah.”
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban have so far released 160 government prisoners while Afghan government freed nearly 1,000 Taliban prisoners.
Javed Faisal, spokesperson for the National Directorate of Security (NDS), asked the Taliban to reduce violence so that way for intra-Afghan talks could be paved after the release of their 1,500 prisoners.
