KABUL (MoPH) on Saturday said 253 new positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in the country over the past 24 hours.
Most of the fresh cases, taking Afghanistan’s tally to 4,033, were detected in western Herat province, MoPH spokesman Dr. Wahidullah Mayar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said 115 Afghans had died and 502 recovered from this pandemic so far. The spokesman called for the people to observe precautions.
Of the newly recorded cases, 71 were found in Herat, 43 in Balkh, 24 in Nangarhar, 22 in Takhar, 16 in Jawzjan, 11 in Paktia and as many in Laghman and Kunduz.
Mayar said 8 new infections had been recorded in Ghazni, four in Kabul and one each in Bamyan, Panjsher, Kunar and Nuristan provinces.
Figures from MoPH show the total 979 cases have been reported in Kabul, 835 in Herat, 481 in Kandahar, 324 in Balkh, 198 in Paktia, 150 in Nangarhar, 88 in Laghman, 87 in Ghazni and 94 in Takhar.
Seventy cases have surfaced in Logar, 60 in Baghlan, 59 in Samangan, 53 in Nimroz 54 in Panjsher, 53 in Kunduz, 37 in Kunar, 34 in Badghis 33 in Wardak, 65 in Jawzjan, 29 in Bamyan, 27 in Helmand and 31 in Faryab.
In addition, 28 cases have been found in Paktika, 19 each in Kapisa and Farah, 21 in Zabul, 17 in Sar-i-Pul, 16 in Parwan, 10 each in Daikundi and Khost, eight in Badakhshan, four in Uruzgan and two in Nuristan.
