KABUL (Pajhwok): The US Army has awarded a $35 million contract to an Arizona-based firm to support the Afghan Air Force (AAF) fleet of light-attack helicopters.
A previously-awarded contract for the company was amended to maintain and supply a fleet of MD-530F aircraft, provide interpreters and train Afghans, the Stars and Stripes reported.
According to the military newspaper, the work will take place in Mesa and Kabul, and is set to come to an end on November 30 this year.
The MD-530F is a trusted security source for convoys and patrols, but the fleet has encountered maintenance and fielding issues in the first three months of the current year.
