KABUL (Pajhwok): A major Islamic bloc has welcomed the power-sharing agreement between President Ashraf Ghani and his rival Dr. Abdullah.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hoped the agreement would bring security and stability to the country and serve the goal of meeting aspirations of the Afghan people.
A statement from the OIC Secretariat reaffirmed the organisation’s support for, and solidarity with, Afghanistan and the new government.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the OIC voiced strong support for the well-being, prosperity and development of the entire country.
Meanwhile, Bahrain also welcomed the signing of the power-sharing agreement, putting Abdullah in charge of the peace process and giving his team 50 percent of cabinet slots.
In Manama, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Bahrain's solidarity with Afghanistan and its support for measures taken to realise the aspirations of its citizens.
