Govt releases 100 Taliban prisoners from Bagram Prison

 

KABUL prisoners from Bagram Prison after President Ashraf Ghani announced resumption of the Taliban prisoners release process.

Intezar Khadem, head of National Security Council’s wing that deal with the prevention of civilian casualties, said the release of 100 prisoners was the first batch of 2,000 prisoners which the president announced to be freed.

According to Khadem, until now the Taliban released 245 government prisoners while Afghan government freed 1,000 Taliban prisoners.

In line with the US, Taliban peace agreement, Afghan government should release 5,000 Taliban prisoners while the Taliban were bound to free 1,000 government prisoners.
