KABUL’s rights activists said Sunday.

The MoHE on its Facebook account said after approval from the Presidential Palace, lecturer Sayed Farhad Shaheezada has been appointed as deputy minister in students affairs.

It said Noor Ahmad Darwish has been appointed as financial and administrative deputy minister, Pro. Mohammad UsmanBabari as new chairman of Kabul University.

Similarly, Dr. Bari Sediq has been appointed as advisor to the ministry, Dr. Mohammad NaeemAzimi as head of quality assurance and credibility, Dr. Noor Ahmad Akhundzada as chief of scholarships and foreign relationship and Faisal Amin as deputy head for students affairs in Kabul  University.

But Shahla Farid, a law and political science lecturer at the Kabul University, wrote on her social media account, “Mr. Minister I wish you had appointed women on half of the posts.”

She said the MoHE did not pay attention to academic women in the newly recruitment process.

She wrote, “If women act wisely with commitment and expertise, no one can match them.”

Another lecturer MunizahRamizi though welcomed the new recruitments, yet she said women were ignored in such appointments. She said at least one post should have been given to the women.

A number of other women’s rights activities held similar views and urged the authorities concerned to consider the gender in this regard in future.

But Aziz Ahmad Orya, spokesman for the MoHE, said women would be appointed in next recruitment. He said a number of women held high ranking posts in the ministry.
