FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): At least seven Taliban gunmen were killed and six others wounded during a clash with security forces in northeastern Badakhshan province on Monday.
Police spokesman Sanullah Rohani told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out in Pari Kham village of Shahar Bozorg district during a clearing operation by security forces.
He said so far Pari Khum, Sangikhah, Robat Gardan and Gardanak villages had been cleared of Taliban militants and the operation continued in other villages of the district.
He said the situation in Shahr Bozrag district had returned to normal, but remote villages in the province faced 20 percent threat from the rebels.
The Taliban have said nothing in this regard.
