KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A number of youth on Monday staged a protest demonstration in southern Kandahar province against the killing and injuring of Afghan passengers in Iran.
The protest was staged in front of Iranian Consulate in Kandahar city and the protestors shouted “Death to Iran”, “Death to Iran spies” and “Death to those who condoled the death of Qasim Sulaimani.” The protestors also torched the neighboring country’s flag.
Abdul Manan Mobarez, one of the protestors, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Iran not only oppressed Afghans but the country was also involved in destabilization of Afghanistan.
He grumbled that Iran had long been supporting militant groups in Afghanistan. He said Iranians had torched and drowned Afghans into water on a variety of excuses.
The protestors slammed recent cruelty Afghan passengers faced in Iran, asking the Afghan government and international community to bring Iran to justice.
The protestors warned of continued rallies if the government of Iran continued meddling in Afghanistan’s affairs and harassed Afghan migrants.
Other protestors also slammed the torture of Afghans by Iranian security forces.
The protest comes after Iranian officials acknowledged their forces opened firing at a vehicle with Afghans onboard, leaving three people dead and some injured.
Three Afghans were killed and eight others injured when their vehicle caught fire in the Yazd province three days ago.
