KABUL (Pajhwok):  The free distribution of bread among poor and needy families has been stopped in capital Kabul but it is said food items will be given to the poor soon.

Almost 40 days back, the government started free distribution of bread to the poor and needy in Kabul after coronavirus lockdowns led to unemployment among residents.

The Kabul Municipality has said, 1,500 needy families in the capital received 10 free pieces of bread daily until yesterday.

Nargis Momand, Kabul Municipality spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the distribution of bread had been stopped and in near future they will start distribution of food items in Kabul.

She said the plan of food items had been provided to the Presidential Palace and further details in this regard would be shared later.
