WHO provides PCR test sets for Covid-19 battle

KABUL, a statement said.

The statement said Minister of Public Health (MoPH) Dr. Ahmad Jawad Usmani held a meeting with  Dr. Rik Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for Afghanistan today (Tuesday).

During the meeting Dr. Usmani informed Peeperkon about the ministry’s priorities in the fight against the coronavirus and improving services in health sector and urged the WHO for further cooperation and assistance in this regard.

He added, “We have been trying to address and manage the Covid-19 spread.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Rik Peeperkorn reaffirmed the WHO’s further assistance in near future.

He said WHO provided the PCR sets to improve the Covid-19 recognition in the war-hit country.

Also on Tuesday, The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said 542 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in different parts of the country over the last 24 hours and taking the country’s tally to 21,400.
