Work on 1,220 facilities for agriculture products storage begins

KABUL has launched work on the construction of over 1,220 infrastructure projects at the cost of 376 million afghanis in 11 provinces, according to a statement on Thursday.

The scheme included the construction of 343 storages for onion, 192 for raisins, 394 zero degree storages for potatoes and the distribution of 300 solar driers in 11 provinces.

Hashmatullah Ghafoori, secretary Irrigation and Agriculture Resources Department, said: “A contract for the construction of storages facilities for onion, potatoes and raisins was inked which will be built in 11 provinces.”

The construction of agriculture facilities which is part of the Agriculture Products Management Project was being implemented in 34 provinces of the country.

According to the ministry the project would help generate jobs for some 10,000 people.

The agriculture ministry projects were being implemented at a time when the spread of coronavirus in the country hampered jobs in the country and the implementation of job opportunities in far-flung areas would help generate jobs for people.
