Plans ready to bolster Kunduz security: Police chief

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The new police chief for northern Kunduz province on Wednesday said further measures would be taken under a managed plan to boost security across the province.

Brig. Gen. Faqeer Mohammad Jawzjani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the security situation had worsened in the provincial capital and districts.

He said plans were ready to bolster the security of Kunduz City, but their implantation requited orders from the central government.

He said, “Not only in capital but security situation has turned bad in districts as well, but measures have been taken to improve security across the province.”

Jawzjani said currently security forces were in defensive mood and they awaited orders from Kabul for conducting clearing operations in the province,.

He said Taliban militants had reached one kilometer away from Kunduz city and it was not tolerable for the Kunduz people.

He said people were also complaining about security on general highways.

He said their security plans implementation would end tensions of people, including illegal taxes on traders would also be addressed.
