Earlier, a Pajhwok Afghan News report claimed at least 32 ventilators had been smuggled to Pakistan at a time when coronavirus patients were dying in Afghanistan due to the lack of oxygen.
The Ministry of Public Health rejected the Pajhwok report but later the ministry started investigation into the alleged smuggling of ventilators.
Afghanistan’s Ombudsperson Office Head Ghazal Haris told reporters here that combating corruption was the government priority, and her office would address all complaints regarding alleged corruption in the coronavirus fund.
She said after investigation into Pajhwok Afghan News report, the Ombudsperson Office would probe Hasht-e-Subh report, salary related complaints of health workers and complaints regarding contracts inked to fight coronavirus.
She said after investigation into complaints, the accused would be referred to the Attorney General Office and materials that lacked criminal aspect would be offered recommendations and the implementation of those recommendations would be strictly monitored.
“Combatting corruption is every individual’s responsibility and I want everyone to continue their efforts in this regard,” she said.
