ALALABAD (Pajhwok): An Afghan National Army engineer was killed in a landmine blast in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the ANA service member was defusing a roadside bomb in Fatih Abad area of Sararud district on Saturday.
He added the soldiers had found the landmine in the area and wanted to defuse it when the device exploded, killing one soldier.
The Taliban militants are active in some remote areas of Sararud district of Nangarhar.
