KABUL) to release journalist Mahbobullah Hakimi in southern Zabul province.
In a statement, NAI said Hakimi, a reporter with Banyan Radio in Zabul province, was in NDS captivity since last Wednesday.
The organization said: “In a video posted on social media 24 hours before the publication of this statement, Hakimi says he apologizes as his Facebook account was used to insult the president.”
Nai believed recording and posting of such a video based on clues by NDS was illegal and against Afghan media law.
According to the statement, based on media law any media errors must be investigated by the Commission for Investigation of Media Violations and Complaints at the Ministry of Culture and Information.
“NDS must not take action to investigate media scandals and allow the Afghan Media Law to be enforced,” the source added.
Nai called on NDS to release Mahbobullah Hakimi as soon as possible so that the case could be investigated by the commission at the MoCI.
