KABUL (Pajhwok): The insurgents inflicted casualties on 68 civilians during the week.
Roadside bombings, targeted killings and direct fire were the major causes of civilian casualties, the NSC said in a statement.
“The Taliban continue to act against the will of all parties and the people of Afghanistan by killing innocent civilians,” the statement said.
A halt to civilian casualties and violence against the Afghan people remained important areas of concern and a key demand of the Afghan government, the council added.
The statement said the use of civilian infrastructure, homes as trenches and intentional abduction of civilians made another key component of civilian casualties.
Killing innocent and defenseless civilians was against all religious, human, war and moral principles and the Taliban continued to do so, the NSC concluded.
