KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 254 new positive Covid-19 cases have been detected in different parts of the country over the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 34,994.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said hundreds of individuals underwent testing during the period and 254 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Kabul recorded 78 new cases while Daikundi saw 61 more infections. A least  24 fresh cases were registered in Takhar,  18 in Paktia, 15 in Ghor, 11 each in Badakhshan and Badghis, 10 in Balkh, nine in Logar, six in Herat, four in Kandahar, three in Nangarhar and one in Maidan Wardak.

At least 32 people lost their lives to the pandemic while 1002 others recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 1,094. As many as 22,456 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The Ministry of Public Health called on the Afghan people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
