Taliban inflict casualties on 420 civilians: NSC

KABUL attacks in 30 different provinces last month, the National Security Council (NSC) said on Saturday.

In violation of their commitments, the insurgents inflicted casualties on civilians through terrorist activities, especially attacks in cities and on highways, the NSC said in a statement.

It added the civilians suffered casualties in 30 provinces due to 1,456 attacks by the Taliban. Most of the casualties happened in Samangan, Kandahar and Nangarhar.

The Taliban carried out suicide attacks, targeted killings and the use of magnetic bombs. Most of the victims were innocent Afghans, including woman and children, the council alleged.

The NSC grumbled that violence against civilians was violative of war rules and it was a crime that was being committed by the militants every day.

Killing defenseless civilians was against all religious, human, war and moral principles and the Taliban continued to commit the crime, the NSC concluded.
