200MW power import from Uzbekistan starts

KABUL, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) said on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Dushanbe reduced electricity export to Afghanistan to 40MW from 350MW due to a shortage of water in the Central Asian country.

In a statement, DABS said after strenuous efforts by the officials concerned, the export of 200MW of electricity from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan began.

The statement said another 200MW of electricity from Uzbekistan would be supplied to the country soon.

At least 100MW of electricity is supplied from domestically-produced power resources.
