GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The process of issuing computerized National Identity Card (NIC) has been started in Gardez, the capital of southeastern Paktia province, with hundreds of residents applying.
However, the residents demanded the process should be accelerated and further facilitated.
Nazar Gul Nazari, a resident of Syed Karm district, said getting electronic NIC card was the need of the hour and that he faced no issue in obtaining the NIC.
“In current circumstances, obtaining computerized NIC is necessary, especially when one is a government employee or retiree. Employees at the NIC distribution office are very cooperative,” he said.
Haji Sulaiman, an Afghan living in foreign, said he visited the computerized NIC office to get the NIC. “In foreign countries all affairs are run on computerised NIC, it felicitates many things.”
He said computerized NIC was very important as the entire world was run through a computerized system. “I am going back, so I want to get the computerized NIC.”
Mohammad Asghar Sediq, head of the National Statistic and Information Department, said getting a computerised NIC was necessary and it was a base for someone’s recognition. He said he would try to remove existing hurdles in this process.
“We get approval of opening another centre and we are planning to open it in the coming two months. The new centre will be opened in Shahrak area to facilitate people,” he said.
