ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Governor of eastern Nuristan province Abdul Ghafoor Malikzai has escaped unhurt in an armed attack, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Fareed Dehqan told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Chapa Dara district of eastern Kunar province on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.
He said the governor came under attack in Gosalk area on his way to Nuristan and he escaped unhurt, but his two bodyguards were injured in the gun attack.
On the other hand, a security source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said three bodyguards of the governor were injured in the gun attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
