3 children die as straw home catches fire in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Three children were burned to death in a fire that erupted inside their straw-made home in southern Kandahar province yesterday.

The incident took place in the industrial park area of Kandahar City, the provincial capital on Friday.

Police spokesman Jamal Nasir Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that the gatekeeper of the park was cooking tea inside his thorn-made room on a gas cylinder.

As the gatekeeper went to a mosque for prayers and left his children at the thorn-made tent, the fire erupted.

As a result, the police spokesman said, three children (two boys and a girl) were completely burnt to death.
